Pippa answered members own  “recovery” questions live in the meeting after her presentation

Our guest Expert Speaker is Pippa Braund, with a Master’s degree in Audiology (MSc) she began work as an audiologist for the National Health Service (NHS), specialising in hearing assessment and rehabilitation. Pippa then was diagnosed with chronic vestibular migraine. She was unable to work for the next nine years and her life was very limited during this time. After trying many medications, vestibular rehabilitation exercises and diets with limited success, she began to read chronic pain research and books about new approaches to treating chronic conditions and started applying them to her dizziness. She was able to recover fully and get back to leading a normal life without symptoms in 2016.

She returned to work as an audiologist and has since successfully used the techniques she used to recover to help people with chronic dizziness . Pippa is certified as a Holistic Life Coach, has studied vestibular rehabilitation with Hypatia Training, and is trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) as well as completing the Freedom From Chronic Pain course which includes training in Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET). She is trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) Level 2.

She currently sees people for private, online video appointments whilst continuing to work part-time for the NHS as a specialist Audiologist. Her contact details and more about her practice can be found at https://www.audiologycoaching.co.uk/home

Introduction Where we clarified some guiding principles of the group and our meetings.  We are not doctors   – We are not medically trained or qualified, so we will never seek to advise on treatments or medical matters. Whatever advice or personal experiences are shared, everyone should always consult with their own medical and healthcare experts for the best medical care and advice. We are not a charity  – We are not a registered charity, we handle no money, we have no money. We are just people helping people.   Positive Only  – We are a support group, with the emphasis being upon support, so we encourage everyone to seek the positive in what we discuss, in our members situations and our overall attitude to our mutual challenges. Let us always try to find solutions rather than be dragged down by the problems, and let us always give encouragement and hope to each other. Tolerance & Friendship  – The group is for everyone, and we can all seek different things from belonging to this group, but at the very least I hope we will all find some degree of friendship and comfort from meeting and knowing our fellow members.  Let us all be tolerant of differences and respect that balance disorders come in many flavours and affect any person in any walk of life and at any age – so we of all groups, should acknowledge and celebrate the variety and differences in our members. Charity Support  – The group is supported by the Menieres Society and VeDA as an official support group listed by both of their web sites. We support both charities in their good work for all things related to balance issues.  NHS Support – We actively support the wonderful UK NHS system (even though it is the most broken that we ever seen) and we encourage participation by all NHS trusts with our group. –Private medical care – Whilst we wish it was possible for all people with balance conditions to be treated in a timely and effective manner at no charge to the patient, the reality in many countries is that this is not possible. We therefore advocate the use of private high quality consultation and treatment, where affordable and as a necessary alternative to “no treatment”. Together we are stronger.
